Event: Know Me Through My Eyes Dementia Training
2050 Dorsett Village
Maryland Heights, MO 63043
This training has been cancelled.
In coordination with the Alzheimer's Association & Leading Age Missouri
Life for any individual living in the later days of dementia should include times filled with recognition and celebration of one’s personhood. Professional care partners often feel at a loss while trying to create meaningful connections with elders where communication is difficult, resulting in a void of emotional connection, enjoyment and comfort for the person at the most vulnerable time of her life. Understanding how working together with the person with advanced Alzheimer’s Disease, from the perspective of the person with the disease, is essential to providing her the best possible quality of care, no matter what may be the care partner’s role.
This day-long seminar, based on Dr. Tom Kitwood’s “Six Needs of People with Dementia” is designed for ALL professional caregivers in both Hospice and Long Term Care. Thought provoking topics provided by experts in their field include holistic and enlightening ways to foster life enriching relationships, for both the person with dementia needing care, as well as for the professional care partners who are providing it.
