The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life and NHPCO has developed a website www.edeledata.org to assist you in accessing national, statewide, and local data on deaths and end-of-life experience. Use these data for planning, reporting, advoccy and more. The EDELE site is an online, searchable catalogue of public data. Missouri currently has fifty-one records across seventeen main website.
American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Aging with Dignity - (formerly the Academy of Hospice Physicians) is an international organization of physicians dedicated to the advancement of hospice and palliative medicine.
Aging with Dignity - National non-profit organization that promotes human dignity as America ages, with emphasis on improved care for those near the end of life. Distributes Five Wishes, an easy to use advance directive that over 1 million American families have used to discuss how they want to be treated during times of serious illness.
Americans for Better Care of the Dying - Dedicated to social, professional, and policy reform to improve care for patients with serious illness and their families.
Growth House - Search engine offers access to the net's most comprehensive collection of reviewed resources for end-of-life care. Inter-Institutional Collaborating Network on End-of-Life Care (IICN) links health care organizations through a shared network.
Last Acts Web Site - A national coalition to improve care and caring near the end of life. The goal of the coalition is to bring death related issues out in the open and help individuals and organizations pursue better ways to care for the dying.
Partnership for Caring: America's Voices for the Dying - National non-profit organization devoted to raising consumer expectations and demand for excellent end-of-life care. Provides a wide range of resources and information about end-of-life care.
Project on Death in America - PDIA's mission is to understand and transform the culture and experience of dying and bereavement through initiatives in research, scholarship, the humanities, and the arts, and to foster innovations in the provision of care, public education, professional education, and public policy.
Hospice Organizations
National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization - The largest nonprofit membership organization representing US hospice and palliative care programs and professionals. Develops public and professional educational programs and materials; convenes meetings and symposia on emerging issues; provides technical informational resources to members; conducts research; monitors congressional and regulatory activities; and works closely with other organizations interested in end-of-life care.
Hospice Association of America - is a national organization representing hospice programs and an affiliate of the National Association for Home Care (NAHC).
Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association - is a national organization representing hospice nurses.
Hospice Foundation of America - promotes the hospice concept of care through education, such as their annual national bereavement teleconference.
Pain Management
American Pain Society - is a multidisciplinary educational and scientific organization dedicated to serving people in pain.
Worldwide Congress on Pain - is sponsored by the Dannemiller Memorial Educational Foundation. This site has information on pain control for both the professional and the consumer, including a library of articles and abstracts.
Missouri Pain Initiative - is dedicated to improving the lives of Missourians in pain. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of people with pain by raising public awareness, promoting self-advocacy and provider practice improvement, and working to remove barriers and increase access to effective pain management.
